Battle of the Band semi-finalists picked
Please note that the Jazz Band should be at Olympic Heights High School at 9 p.m. for a 9:30 performance. At this time, there is no transportation provided for this event, so parents must get their student to Olympic Heights.
The semi-finalists in the Swing and Jazz Preservation Society sponsored Battle of the Bands Palm Beach County have been determined. nine public schools received the coveted Superior rating, allowing them to play on Feb. 24 at Olympic Heights High School Auditorium, 5773 Jog Road, Boca Raton, starting at 6:30 pm.
Jazz Band Performance at Independence Middle School
Saturday Feb. 25, Jazz Band performs @ IMS pancake breakfast. All Jazz Band students should be at IMS in Abacoa at 11:00 a.m. for the 11:30 performance.
Concert Band MPA Tuesday March 6th
The kids should be at Dwyer at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 6th and will be taking a bus to Wellington HS for MPA evaluations. Parents should plan on attending the evaluation scheduled to begin at 8:00 and can pick up the kids at Dwyer around 9:30 p.m.
Trump International Golf Club Performance


The performance at Trunp International Golf Club on Super Bowl Sunday was a big success. Mr. Trump spoke to the kids and Mr. Lamp and asked some questions. He then had pictures taken with the band. We would like to thank Mr. Trump for the very generous donation he made to the band for the performance. We were later told that this is the most he has given any group to perform for this Super Bowl party. Awesome job to all band members!
Yankee Candle Fund-raiser ends Feb. 20th.
Hi Everyone,
Hopefully you have seen the Yankee Candle fund-raiser packet which was distributed in class last week. This fundraiser is a great opportunity to help pay off your fair share.
JUST A FEW REMINDERS:
-the fundraiser ends February 20th not the 24th as stated on the information sheet
-all checks should be payable to William T Dwyer High School or William T Dwyer Band Booster (can be abbreviated)
-all money must be collected when the order is placed with student NO orders will be processed without proper funds
-additional forms/packets are in band room with Mr. Lamp

Heritage Performance Music Festival, April 19-22, 2012
The final numbers have been crunched and the total amount for the Heritage Festival is $530 per student and $200 for the chaperons.
The final payment of $140 is due by February 29th and can be dropped off to Mr. Lamp or given to Dawn Ennis. We need to get all the money in as soon as possible, so the last payment to the Heritage Festival can be sent in.
It is very important to complete the registration on-line for each person and chaperon. The purpose for this step is to make sure each traveler's name appears on the registration list for hotel rooming list assignment. It covers information coverage for insurance, emergency contacts and the Terms & Conditions of Behavior Code. I'm requesting this be handled as soon as possible. If for any reason you are unable to do the registration, please contact me and we can work together to get the information in their system.
Dwyer's list of attendees will be sent up by 2/19th to the hotel.
The band's room assignments need to be made by March 15th. Please see Mr. Lamp about who will be staying with whom. If assignments are not completed, I will place students in rooms.
Right now, there are 8 girls, which consist of 2 double rooms. I have 23 boys, which will be 5 quad rooms and 1 triple. The chaperons will work out the rooms between themselves.
I do not have the schedule from the Festival yet. I have been told there are still schools registering, so the final times will not be published until the end of the month. Once I receive the information, I will forward the times and locations to everyone.

Please remember that we need these fair share payments in order for the band to operate and succeed. The financial contract that all parents signed at the beginning of the year indicates that the marching band members are obligated to pay their fair share. Any students that are not current can be placed on obligation with the school and will not receive their report card or diploma until their band account is paid. You should be receiving monthly account statements from the treasurer, Dawn Ennis. You can email her at enniskd@live.com if you need additional information.
Online payments: Fair-share fees can be paid online using the website https://www.schoolcashonline.com . You can make payments in increments of $50, $100 and $150. Please consider using this convenient method of making your payments.
